Heading the judging panel for the 2023 Design Awards was James Nowak, architect, AIA, LEED AP (retired). Nowak was a senior technical architect for 50 years, leading an array of U.S. and international projects.

The 2023 Design Awards competition attracted 82 entries—46 U.S. and 36 international—representing a total of 15 countries.

The 39th Design Awards recognize projects that were completed during calendar year 2023. The United States honorees were featured in the April issue of BCM, while the international winners will be spotlighted in the May issue.
