Brunswick Partners With National Bowling Stadium To Build New Venue

A brand new, world-class boutique bowling lounge is now open at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Nevada State legislators, downtown Reno casino owners, the city of Reno and Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority.

The Kingpin Club by Brunswick, which officially opened its doors on Feb. 21, is a hip, 10-lane venue located on the first floor of the National Bowling Stadium (NBS) in Reno. It was developed to enable the stadium to expand the bowling markets it serves. Before the new lanes were built, the stadium held a minimum participant requirement of 150 guests. Now, it can host smaller tournaments as well as corporate and social events for groups as small as 50.

To kick-off the grand opening of the Kingpin Club by Brunswick, which features GS® pinsetters, Pro Lane™ synthetic lanes, Vector® scoring, and customized masking units, the Stadium held a private party for 100 guests, including a number of State of Nevada legislators and Reno civic leaders. Guests bowled and enjoyed a fun evening of food and drinks. In addition to Brunswick bowling equipment, the facility features a private full-service bar.

The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority that manages the NBS, says the nearly $2 million project is the first in a series of renovations planned for the Stadium. An additional $10 million in improvements are planned in the next four years, including replacing the 78 lanes within the main Stadium with Brunswick Pro LaneTM synthetic lanes, prior to the 2015 Women’s Championship to be held there.

The Kingpin Club by Brunswick is already experiencing a lot of use. The United States Bowling Congress (USBC) is currently using it to host many side tournaments, practice sessions and lessons during to the USBC Open. The USBC Open, which can attract up to 90,000 bowlers and spectators, is being held at the NBS from now until July. The NBS hosts approximately 70 tournaments and events each year. About 250,000 bowlers come through its doors annually.
