Eurosport To Broadcast The Final Of The 2010 Brunswick Euro Challenge

Brunswick, the worldwide leader in bowling, has entered into an agreement with Europe’s leading sports entertainment group, Eurosport, to broadcast the final of the Brunswick Euro Challenge (BEC) 2010 tournament live on Eurosport 2 television channel. The live coverage will be the first of its kind for a European bowling tournament, further underscoring Brunswick’s position as the bowling industry leader. The agreement with Eurosport marks another milestone in Brunswick’s quest for the popularization of bowling around the world. Live television coverage of the final on Eurosport 2 is scheduled for Sunday, March 14, 2010, at 17:30-18:30 hrs (5:30- 6:30 p.m.) CET.

Eurosport started operation in 1989 as the first pan-European sports television channel. The network has continuously grown over the past 20 years, and has clearly established itself as the No.1 sports media brand in all of Europe and beyond. In total, Eurosport reaches 116 million homes, with 240 million viewers, across 59 countries in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East and broadcasts in 20 different languages. Launched in 2005, Eurosport 2, the host of the BEC 2010 final, is the new generation sports channel bringing viewers a unique blend of team sports, alternative and new sports, and up-to-the-minute news. Additional to the live broadcast, Eurosport 2 will air at least two more re-runs in the weeks following the live coverage (exact dated to be determined). Furthermore, Eurosport Asia-Pacific will cover the BEC 2010 final several times on its television-outlet. Eurosport Asia-Pacific offers a comprehensive menu of sports, covering more than 60 sports genres. The channel can be seen in 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Japan, Australia, India and bowling stronghold, Malaysia.

The Brunswick Euro Challenge started in 2004 and has quickly established itself as one of the largest bowling events in all of Europe. The 7th edition of the tournament will be played March 5 – 14 in the state-of-the-art Plaza Bowling Center in St. Maximin (Paris), France, for the third consecutive year. The first four editions of the tournament, from 2004 to 2007, were played in Thessaloniki, Greece. Every year the BEC draws players from all over the world providing a very interesting mix of promising amateur players, Europe’s top performers, and Professional Bowlers Association stars. Player registration is currently on record pace with 475 bowlers from 36 countries signed up to compete for the BEC 2010 title and the €13,000 top prize. The total prize fund is set at €90,000. The BEC 2010 is the fifth stop of the European Bowling Tour 2010.

The Brunswick Euro Challenge offers a complete schedule of events. The tournament organizers put together “European Brunswick Bowling Week,” consisting of exciting seminars and training sessions for bowlers, coaches, bowling proprietors as well as center managers and mechanics. A special youth clinic for junior players, with international bowling stars training the young hopefuls, is also part of the event schedule.
